Since 2010 we have been exhibiting the work of Marcelo Suaznabar at several venues in New York. This year at VOLTA, for the first time, we offer a solo presentation of his work including paintings, sculptures and drawings. Over the years his work has evolved but his signature contemporary surrealism remains recognizable. Not willing to set limits on his creativity and practice, Suaznabar has explored sculpture in ceramics and bronze. With the new media he pushes the boundaries of his creative process as his fantastical beings take on a new dimension. This is our first presentation of his sculptures to an international audience.

Suaznabar challenges viewers’ imagination. He asks us to re-view what we see, re-imagine what might be possible, to explore our subconscious as he has done. He invites us into a weird and wonderful world where we find symbols, dreams and humour.
