Sakko discovered his talent for painting at a very early age, by his late teens he was fully immersed in art and has never looked back. He has garnered international attention for over 30 years working as a full-time artist. His paintings represent a nostalgia for the captivating Middle Eastern world of his childhood. Ancient and modern influences pervade both the inspiration and execution of his radiant landscapes. The vibrant golds, ochres and rich palette recall the dazzling illuminations in ancient manuscripts, while his loose impressionistic style gives his work a place in modern art.
Sakko paints directly onto plexiglass with acrylic or oil using an unusual technique where he paints the image in reverse so it can be viewed through the reflective surface; this adds depth and lustre to each of his luminescent images.
